Welcome to Swing DanceWorks!

Jitterbug Jane, aka Jane Dumont, promotes dance classes and workshops by various local and national instructors throughout the year in the Hartford, Connecticut area. Dances include East Coast Swing, Lindy, Charleston, Hustle, West Coast Swing, Night Club Two Step, Country Two Step, Foxtrot, Cha Cha and Waltz. Jane is also a dance instructor, a licensed ASCAP/BMI swing DJ, and is available to host the music and/or lessons at your local dance, club and other swing functions.

No dancing experience is required for many of the beginner or basics classes offered. Don't have a partner? That's okay; you don't need one! We rotate partners in all classes and workshops to help you learn faster. Of course, you can also come with your own partner and not rotate if you so desire.

All class locations are noted with the class or workshop but most are held at the AIR-CONDITIONED Wethersfield American Legion Hall (just minutes south of Hartford).

To register for classes or workshops, please complete the registration form.

Pre-registration for classes is not required. You can save money by pre-registering before the course deadlines but getting a discount means you are making a commitment and you are not entitled to a refund or exchange if you cannot attend for any reason. To register on the day of the class or workshop, PLEASE arrive at least 20 minutes before the scheduled class time so the classes may start on time.

Most classes taught by Jane may be repeated for a reduced price. "Repeating" means that if you paid for the class as a "follower", you may repeat the class only as a follower and would have to pay full price if you would like to learn the other side of the dance as a "leader". Some classes may be canceled if at least 15 "paying" students do not register. A cancellation may cause a time change for other classes before or after. Sorry no refunds or exchanges unless a class in canceled.

• Thursday Night Swing Dance Practices
  Every Thursday evening except second Thursday Sep-June
  No dances: May 08, June 12, September 11, October 09, November 06,& 20, December 11, 2008
  at the AIR-CONDITIONED Wethersfield American Legion Hall.
  April thru October schedule is 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm and
  November thru March schedule is 8:00 to 10:30 pm.
  A mix of West Coast, East Coast, Hustle, with some Waltz, Lindy, Cha Cha,
  Night Club Two Step and Country 2 Step will be played.
  Cost is $5.00.
  This is an informal dancing session to practice what you have learned in a class or just to have another night for social dancing. Smoke free and alcohol free. Open to all ages. You DO NOT need a partner. Volunteers are often needed and are admitted for free.

• Mostly Waltz Summer Dances at the AIR-CONDITIONED Wethersfield American Legion Hall.

• Mostly TANGO Summer Dance at the AIR-CONDITIONED Wethersfield American Legion Hall.
  Wednesday July 02, 2008
  Dancing 7:30 - 10:00pm to a variety of Argentine Tango music played by DJ. Cost is $5.00.
  Smoke free and alcohol free. Open to all ages. You DO NOT need a partner. Volunteers are always needed and are admitted for free.

• Seventh Annual Benefit Dance Saturday July 19, 2008
  for the American Legion Improvement Fund
  at the AIR-CONDITIONED Wethersfield American Legion Hall.
  7:30 PM - 11:00 PM (ish).
  DJs will play a mix of West Coast/Hustle, East Coast/Lindy,
  with a few Waltz, Night Club Two Step, Foxtrot, Country 2 step and Cha-Cha.
  Sorry, No Lesson This Evening.
  Admission $10 or free with a tax-deductable contribution of $10 or more payable to "American Legion Post 23". *All proceeds* will go to the fund. If you cannot attend, contributions may also be mailed to ALP 23, c/o Paul Brigham, 27 Spruce Street Newington, CT. 06111.
